Reflections
on the Holiday Season
There are so many ways to celebrate this season. Regardless of how
you celebrate, I'd like to wish you my best for a warm, joyous holiday
season.
At the winter solstice, the day is the shortest of all and night is
the longest. In many places it can be a time of bitter cold. For many of
us it's a time to retreat indoors and celebrate the season with friends
and loved ones. It can be a time to snuggle up with a loved one next to
a roaring fire. Or perhaps a time to explore nature when things are
quiet and dormant.
Some of us miss the long, warm days of summer - count me in that
camp. I guess I just like spending
too much time outdoors. It's important for those who feel as I do to remember that this is the
lowest turn of the wheel. Even in the cold and the darkness the seeds of
the long, warm days of summer have been planted. The first day of winter
is actually the beginning of winter's death. From this day on, the days
grow longer and the nights grow shorter.
I'm thankful for everything I've received this past year. Yes, life
can be traumatic, frenzied and hectic. It's also a gift - full of joy,
peace and pleasure. This was a big year of change for me and I'm
thankful for the support of my friends, family and everyone in my life.
I'm also thankful for the confidence, trust and support you've placed in
me. I look forward to continuing our journey in the coming year.
Thank You
So many people offered me kind words and thoughts on the passing of
my dog, Ellie. She was my best friend and was with me for almost 13
years. I do miss her. Several people told me about the
Rainbow Bridge. This
has been very comforting to me as I move on without her. I'm comforted
by the thought of her running in the grassy field and I look forward to rejoining
her again someday.
Wishing you a joyful holiday and an abundant new year! Ed |
