Happy New Year!

I had a wonderful time in SF for New Year's. I had a great opportunity to re-connect with my friends there. I hope you had a peaceful celebration too.

What is Sexological Bodywork?

One of the most common questions I get when I'm speaking with clients is about Sexological Bodywork. So, I thought I'd use this newsletter to help you know more about this new profession.

Sexological Bodywork is a hands on, body based instructional method to help you learn more about your erotic self. This instruction is done over a series of 5 to 8 sessions. Each person's sessions are unique and focused on specific concerns.

Sexological Bodywork was developed by Joseph Kramer, PhD from his experience in founding the Body Electric School. We are trained and certified by the Institute for the Advance Study of Human Sexuality in San Francisco.

Why?

Are you happy with your erotic life? Have you experienced truly being in erotic bliss? Do you experience blocks or obstacles to erotic ecstasy? Do you experience shame or guilt after erotic experiences? Are you happy with your body? Do you feel stuck in repeating erotic patterns?

These are some of the questions that Sexological Bodywork can address.

As we are growing up, we receive many lessons from parents, teachers, and other elders. What is usually missing though is training on erotic pleasure. Over time, blockages can occur. These blockages can interfere with complete erotic pleasure. Sexological Bodywork is a way to re-train your body and begin removing blockages.

What Happens?

The first step is to spend some time chatting to be clear on your learning objectives. After this initial conversation I'll propose a series of sessions to address your specific concerns. These sessions may include conscious breathwork, Taoist Erotic Massage, anal massage or masturbation coaching. The possibilities are limitless: I've gone toy shopping with clients, drawn erotic pictures and done many exercises in front of mirrors.

Some of the work we do is in person. Other exercises are offered as homework assignments that we'll talk about afterwards.

Breathwork is the foundation of all erotic coaching. For many of us the first response we have to increasing erotic energy is to stop breathing! This creates holding patterns in the body that can prevent us from fully experiencing our erotic pleasure. I incorporate breathwork into all Sexological Bodywork sessions to help you cultivate that erotic energy and move it throughout your body.

So many men think that erotic play always ends in reaching ejaculation. We can spend so much time and energy focused on the destination that we forget how beautiful the journey can be. Sexual theory often discusses two types of erotic energy: excitement and enjoyment. Most of us are familiar with excitement - that continual increase in pleasure leading to ejaculation. Enjoyment is a constant state of experiencing erotic pleasure. Enjoyment, unlike excitement, can last a very long time and doesn't have to lead to ejaculation. Taoist Erotic Massage is a way to introduce your body to the incredible pleasure that you can experience from enjoyment.

The anus is a source of great pleasure. It can also be a place of apprehension or shame. During Sexological Bodywork we can explore pleasure from the anus in a very protective and safe way. Through breathwork, coaching and massage we can explore anal pleasure. Many men are surprised how much pleasure they can experience from an external anal massage - without any penetration. The prostate is also a place of great pleasure. I help to create a safe space to help men connect with anal pleasure. I have also worked with men on anal hygiene - including detailed instruction on anal cleaning techniques.

Masturbation coaching is intended to help you reach new heights of ecstasy from self-pleasuring. Most of us learned about masturbation when we were much younger but haven't changed the way we masturbate much since then. Masturbation coaching helps you pay full attention to what you are doing while pleasuring yourself; waking up your entire body to its full erotic potential. It can help you restore the natural connection between your genitals and your heart. Engaging your entire body - not just your penis.

Every man is capable of inducing erotic trance states - states that quiet the noisy mind and just allow you to simply experience pleasure without guilt or shame. But many men continue to feel guilt, shame or at least embarrassment about how much they love masturbating. Therefore masturbation is kept hidden and practiced furtively. This usually prevents the process from becoming deeply rewarding and nourishing. In fact, most men get stuck in a repetitive and predictable habit - often learned at a young age - of merely relieving sexual tension. Masturbation coaching gives men the opportunity to learn enhanced masturbatory skills and experience profound pleasure in their bodies with a qualified and supportive coach.

Honoring Intentions

A crucial part of Sexological Bodywork is the value of intentions and boundaries. Before we begin we'll be sure to talk about your boundaries. I won't ask you to do anything beyond your boundaries, but I may invite you to talk a bit about those boundaries.

Sexological Bodyworkers acknowledge the human longing for connection, we also recognize the value of professional distance. While I share authentic intimacy, our sessions will not fulfill desires for sexual connection. I do not act as a surrogate partner. Complete confidentiality is assured.

If you have additional questions or would like to see if this work can help you I would be happy to chat with you more about this important work.

Where's Ed?

Since I have a lot to do in Phoenix to get ready for the upcoming move, I'll be spending most of January in Phoenix. Please check the website for my latest travel information though!

What's Going on With My Move?

Everything's on schedule for my new SF place to be ready in late February. I'll be on Valencia between 14th and Duboce. I should be ready to see clients in my new space in early March. I'm looking forward to creating a great massage space there and will be sending out more emails to keep you informed how things move along.
